What we take

Furniture removal in Phoenix

We take sofas, beds, dressers, tables and office furniture out of residential and commercial spaces, from a single armchair to everything in the house.

That covers a living room set before the new couch arrives, a guest room cleared ahead of a move, or a row of desks out of an office suite. It is "full-service removal": the crew comes inside to wherever the piece sits and carries it out, so nothing has to be dragged to the curb by you.

If you would rather set things outside yourself, "curbside junk removal" is the cheaper way to go.

  • Sofas and sectionals

Loveseats, sleeper sofas and recliners included.

  • Beds and frames

Headboards, footboards, rails and bunk beds.

  • Dressers and chests

Chests of drawers, armoires and nightstands.

  • Tables and chairs

Dining sets, coffee tables and patio sets.

  • Office furniture

Desks, task chairs and filing cabinets.

  • Just the couch

A "single-item pickup" is the smallest job we run.

After the pickup

Donate, recycle or landfill: where old furniture goes

Where a piece ends up depends on what it is made of and the shape it is in, and the choices narrow quickly.

  • Donation

Charities accept only furniture that is clean and odor-free, so a sound oak dresser can go, while a stained sofa cannot.

  • Metal recycling

Steel bed frames, metal desks and filing cabinets go to a scrap recycler instead of the dump.

  • Landfill

"Particle board" furniture, such as an IKEA dresser, has no donation or recycling route, so it rides to the landfill with anything too worn to reuse.

80%

of discarded furniture was landfilled in 2018

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency durable goods data put the share of thrown-out furniture sent to landfills at about 80 percent that year.

Giving pieces to charity?

Under the Internal Revenue Service guide to determining the value of donated property, you as the donor decide the fair market value of what you give for a tax deduction, so keep a list of what went.

Heavy pieces

Carrying furniture out of the house

Most furniture leaves the house by hand or on a dolly, and the biggest pieces ride away on a truck-and-trailer setup, since a sectional or an armoire will not fit in a standard pickup.

A few jobs need more than muscle. Some pianos call for extra equipment because of the way their weight sits, and built-in furniture, such as a fixed bookcase or a wall bed, counts as demolition, which is beyond standard removal and is quoted separately.

  • Particle board

It is bonded with formaldehyde-based resins and becomes a health risk once cut or broken.

  • Old antiques

Pieces with lead paint, or parts containing mercury, need special handling.

How it goes

From your call to an empty room

Here is the order a furniture job runs in, start to finish.

  1. Call us

Tell us what is going and where it sits; we answer or call back the same working day.

  2. Get your estimate

It is free and carries no obligation to book.

  3. We arrive

We show up when we say we will, on the day you picked.

  4. Carry and sort

Each piece comes out of its room and is loaded by where it is headed.

  5. Sweep up

We clean the floor where the furniture stood before the truck leaves.

Before a move

Pressboard furniture and the cost of moving it

Low-cost flat-pack furniture is usually cheaper to replace than to move, which is why movers recommend getting rid of pressboard pieces before moving day.

A bookcase from IKEA, Wayfair or Amazon Basics costs little to buy new, while hauling it to the next place takes truck space and labor at both ends. Solid wood is the exception worth weighing: a sturdy dresser or table can earn its spot on the moving truck, or go to a charity if it is clean.

Short answer

Move the solid wood. Let the pressboard go.

Pricing

What furniture removal costs

Furniture removal in Phoenix typically runs $59 to $119 a job, and hourly help with heavy pieces starts at about $50 per hour. Those are area figures rather than our quote; your exact price comes from the call.

$59 to $119

A typical job

Free

Your estimate, no obligation

  • Space, not weight

Furniture is priced by how much of the truck it fills, measured in the "cubic yard", so a bulky sectional costs more than a heavy but compact chest.

  • Metal costs less

Scrap value offsets the haul, so a metal desk or bed frame is cheaper to remove than wood or upholstered pieces.

  • Stairs and long carries

Stairs, elevators, long walks to the truck and pieces spread over several floors add labor.

  • Curbside or in-home

Setting pieces outside ahead of time is the cheapest service level; in-home pickup brings the crew to them.

  • Taking it apart

A bed or sectional that has to come apart to clear a doorway can add to the price.

  • Same-day timing

Same-day and weekend jobs cost more than jobs booked days ahead.

We quote the whole job before we start, with no surprise charges after, and the estimate costs you nothing.

Neighbors on the crew that carried it out

Nathan , and his fellow worker ( I forget his name) were great! They were very quick in being available to help us out in the same week we called them. They did a thorough job in removing and emptying out an apartment; and a complete storage room the very next day~~ during a week we were in town because of a loved ones death. I highly recommend them. Very, very nice young men!

Came the same day I called them. Two great guys. Took everything and we thought the price was very fair. We would definitely call them again.

Mattresses and other items in the same load

A bedroom set usually goes out with its mattress and box spring, so we take them on the same trip rather than leave part of the bed behind.
